Sumac is native to Iran and were used by Romans who enjoyed its sour taste. Sumac are small red dried berries that are sold grounded, sometimes mixed with salt. (our ones are without salt).

Sumac is radish, purple in colour with a fruity, tard, and astringent taste.

The ground spice is the popular spice that is sprinkled over salads, fish stews and rice. It is commonly eaten with slices onions, as an appetizer and to season kebabs.

Sumac goes well with pine nuts, parsley, garlic, chilli pepper, cumin and coriander
