Robin Necklace

The robin has been the symbol of good luck, joy, happiness, and a messenger for lost loved ones. The phrase, "When robins appear, loved ones are near", depicts the robin as a messenger.
The robin has been associated with Christmas since the mid 1800s. In Victorian Britain, postmen were called "Robins" as they wore bright red jackets. Christmas cards usually featured pictures of postmen, however it became a trend to draw a picture of the robin bird instead.
In New Zealand, the three different species of robin are the North Island robin (Toutouwai), South Island robin (Kakaruwai) and Stewart Island robin. These species are closely related to the black robin of the Chatham Islands. They are all smallish, sparrow-sized birds with long legs relative to their bodies.
They are very friendly and trusting, and often come very close to people.
