In the language of flowers, the lily of the valley symbolises the return of happiness. It is also the birth flower for May.

The lily of the valley is the national flower of Finland. In France, on 1st May, lily of the valleys are gifted to family and friends as a token of luck. This custom dates back to the mid 16th century. King Charles IX was said the be the first to offer a sprig of lily of the valley as a lucky charm.

The lily of the valley is a popular choice for bridal bouquets.
