Chateau Vieille Tour la Rose St Emilion Grand Cru

New vintage 2021 Grand Cru St Emilion, and incredibly held at the same price as the prior vintage.

Chateau Vielle Tour la Rose has been owned by the Ybert family for more than four generations. The estate covers ten hectares covering three different appellations: Saint-Emillion Grand Cru, Saint-Emillion and Pomerol.

The average age of the vines is over 40 years. The wines are fermented in concrete and stainless steel vats and then aged in French oak barrels (33% new, and the remainder in one and two seasons old).

80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. Drink from now but can be aged for 5 to 10 years.

The result of a textbook vintage, this wine expresses all the finesse and elegance of an outstanding terroir. A beautiful crimson red of brooding intensity. The elegant nose evocative of blackberry, black cherry and beautifully ripened Merlot is underpinned by
harmonious oak and toasty notes. The palate has the creamy unctuousness typical of this exceptional terroir and crunchy tannins wrapped in velvet-smooth but fresh extract. Superb balance with a complex, lingering back-of-palate – a wine which is just begging to be tasted with veined cheese over a meal with friends.
