Al Cantara 'Luci-Luci' Etna Bianco

Al-Cantara has been awarded the title of "Winery of the Year Gran Vinitaly 2023" for its wines receiving the highest scores awarded by an international jury.
The winery takes its name from the river that, on the slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily, in Randazzo, close to Al-Cantara's land and cellars. The name "Al-Cantàra," which means "bridge" in Arabic, is meant to emphasize the link with Sicily and symbolizes the harmonious and innovative combination of wine, art and poetry that is the winery's hallmark. Not surprisingly, the names of the wines are inspired by poems by Sicilian authors.
The vineyards sit atabout 620 metres above sea level, where warm days and cool nights encourage a long ripening period concentrating the flavours in the grapes while retaining balancing acidity. The soil is permeable to air and water and is rich in pumice stone and micro-elements, which allow the plants to produce a complex aromatic profile. The espalier-trained vines are spur pruned. The vineyard is cultivated following the principles of organic and biodynamic cultivation and is in conversion to organic status.

'Luci-Luci' dry white wine from the Etna Biano DOC, made from 100% Carricante from vines around 20 years old. Aged 6-9 months on lees, and a further 12 months in bottle. An exotic nose of honey and hay and white floral notes, yellow apple and tropical fruit on the palate with a salty long finish. Wonderful umami and spicy flinty notes. Vibrant, concentrated, yet balanced and elegant wine.
