Baigorri B70
“B70″ stands for vineyards of more than 70 years old and very low yielding.
Intense black-cherry with good depth of colour. Highly complex aromas of wild berries, spices and minerals. Perfect balance between the tannins, fruit and acidity — an expression of fragrance and elegance. Very long, fresh and persistent on the palate.
The most limited production from Bodegas BAIGORRI, with only around 1,200 bottles made each year. It is a true reflection of the terroir of Rioja Alavesa and of its old vines, rooted in the culture and the tradition. A new dimension of finesse, fragrance and elegance – bestowing on this wine their maximum expression.
A red wine made from Tempranillo grapes from very old vines, planted in 1942 in a small parcel located in the municipality of Samaniego, Rioja Alavesa. Average yields of less than 2,000 kg per hectare.
After selective, manual harvesting, the destemmed grapes are selected by hand, berry by berry, using sorting tables which function via vibration and weight. Long periods of maceration and intercellular fermentation with autochthonous yeasts in 5,000 litre French-oak vats. Natural pumping over and devatted by gravity. Malolactic fermentation and ageing for 24 months in new French-oak casks with extra-fine grain.

Bodegas Baigorri's vineyards and state of the art winery are based in Rioja Alavesa and are considered a work of art in their own right.
Built around the winemaking process, an elegant glass structure emerges from the soil and welcomes the visitor with a stunning display of the surrounding vineyards, emphasising that it is here where the process begins. The facility is more than 30 metres below the surface and relies on gravity to drive the fruit and must through its evolution towards world-class wine. The absence of hoppers, pumps or mechanical methods of any kind ensures that the individually select- ed grapes and the resulting wine are insulated from any potential damage. The result of this combination of careful vine management, rigorous selection and innovative architecture is a collection of well rounded, modern wines with a distinct personality.
