Gunzer Tamas GT50+
Gunzer Tamas winery sits in the heart of the Villany (Vill-Ann-Yee) wine region of Southern Hungary. One of the warmest regions in the country, south of the Balaton lake. The region produces a wide range of different styles, but it has become world famous as the new home of the French grape Cabernet Franc. so much so that it is sometimes now referred to as Villany-Franc and considered the flagship wine of the region.

Gunzer Tamas was established in 2004, quickly establishing itself as one of the high quality producers of the region with 70 hectares of vines. The GT-50 celebrates the 50th birthday of the founder, and is the flagship wine of the estate. A blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Kékfrancos (aka- Blaufrankish).
Elegant, complex and rich wine. Roasted meat, dark berries, matured in a combination of Hungarian, French, and American oak. It's Bordeaux-meets Hungary in a great way and massively over-delivers for the price point. One of the wines that inspired us to start importing Hungarian wine to New Zealand.
