Castannove Primitivo di Puglia IGP

Primitivo is the top grape of the Puglia region - the 'heel of the boot' of south-eastern Italy. Hot and dry, it's also the region that produces a huge amount of Italy's tomatoes and olives. It's is an easy grape to love, abundant fruity and very smooth.

The Castannove example fits the bill perfectly, perfumed aromas of baked blueberries and blackberries, plummy in the mouth with very soft round tannins, a hint of marzipan and a dry chalky finish. Destemmed and a short maceration on skins, warm fermented in tank, partly matured in a mix of French and American oak.
