I like to think that Sir Edmund Hillary was wearing a pair of hand knitted woollen socks when he reached the summit of Mt Everest, maybe they would have been lovingly knitted by his Mum!

Us mere mortals may not be scaling Everest but a days tramping in one of our National Parks is surely achievable, and of course we will be wearing a pair of hand knitted socks.
