a naturally uncommon tussock, endemic to Banks Peninsula. We recommend this species as a locally sourced substitute for the North Island tussock Chionochloa flavicans/ miniature toe toe.

an ornamental perennial grass that is grown for its subtly coloured foliage of a soft blue-green. The showy yellow flowers in late spring bring interest to the garden and can provide food for birds in autumn. Naturally found on rocks, rock outcrops, bluffs, talus and stabilised, sparsely vegetated slopes, it is suitable from the coast to montane range.
