Desert Light Cushion
The latest addition to our Art Series, a stunning new Printed Collection - Elements of Nature.
Created in collaboration with Auckland artist Melanie Field, the Elements of Nature collection features four unique & modern abstract paintings printed on luxurious linen and velvet.
The print shown here is Desert Light, a captivating abstract landscape in subtle earthy tones. Crafted to perfection, this cushion features a design that pays homage to the delicate equilibrium of the natural world, making it a beautiful addition to your living space.
Artist’s inspiration:
“Drawing upon earth tones of sand and rock this painting holds themes and textures of desert nature. Representing both a sense of suspension/movement and Hard/soft, this work calls to harder mineral elements which are conveyed through delicate brushwork as a softer, ‘memory-like’ approach."
Designed in New Zealand. Made in India.
About the artist:
Mel is an exceptionally talented and creative artist who has honed her skills through diverse experiences. She began with a successful career as an Art Director in the publishing industry and earned the prestigious MPA Art Director of the Year award. After leaving her job to become a full-time parent, Mel immersed herself in family therapy and explored a variety of artistic disciplines, ultimately achieving certification as a process arts facilitator. She later pursued her passion for abstract painting, studying at Browne Art School for five years. Since 2018 Mel has been represented by Frame Gallery and is currently preparing for her first solo show.
“My work is influenced by nature and the mystical. Underlying elements of the natural world – energetics, pattern, rhythm, cyclical phases and relationships are some of my principal areas of interest. I am drawn to the invisible - the feeling or energetic experiences in life. I paint completely intuitively, allowing each piece to reach its “completion" in its own time. Using nature-inspired colour phases, I strive to embody and convey the experience of presence, connectedness, and beauty through my work." - Melanie Field
Please note:
Velvet cushions with the same print differ in colour from linen. Due to nuances of digital printing, dyes react differently on different materials.
Avoid direct sunlight as linen is a natural fibre and will fade gradually over time, darker colours are more susceptible to sun discolouration so please choose wisely.
