Sparrow In Gumboots - Giclée Print

Sparrow In Gumboots Olivia Wirepa

The common Sparrow (House Sparrow) was introduced into New Zealand in about 1860. They are sociable, flocking birds that are rarely found alone. Sparrows tend to live in areas of human habitation, such as cities, farms & towns. A Sparrow will live for about four years never traveling more than a couple of kilometers, from where it hatched & preferring to breed in the same nest, season after season. The female Sparrow is a dull grey with pale brown wings while the male has a brighter chestnut-brown on its wings, a white-collar & also sports a distinctive black "bib".
