Rifleman on Chatham Island - Framed Original

The rifleman, or titipounamu, is a native New Zealand bird. They are found throughout New Zealand, living in mature bush and forests, mainly at hight altitudes. They are tiny birds with extremely short tails and relatively long beaks. The males have attractive, bright green feathers on their backs and heads while the females are more brownish in colour.
The Chatham Island forget-me-not, or kopukapuka, is a spectacular plantthat is endemic to New Zealand. It was given its European name after the island on which it discovered. the introduction of grazing stock and pests likr possums and rodents have seen its numbers decline and today it is classified as "nationally vulnerable".
It's large, shiny, deep green leaves have deep corrugated channels which funnel the rain water down to the roots. The plant produces thick, fleshy stalks upon which grow masses of pretty blue and white flowers.
