Mother Rockwren Scolding Offspring - Giclée Print
- Olivia Wirepa
The rockwren (also known as pīwauwau, mātuitui, or tuke) is a small, brown New Zealand bird. It is endemic to the South Island and is found in alpine and subalpine areas.
Rock wrens are about the size of a sparrow and have a short, rounded tail. They are insectivores and feed on insects, spiders, and other small invertebrates. They forage on rocky slopes and in alpine scrub, and they are often seen hopping and flitting around rocks.
