An illustration of tawhirimatea by hori – this image depicts tawhiri in humana form and the act of tearing of his karu or eyes - it is said after his parents were separated by his siblings he tore his eyes out crushed them and threw them in to the sky , these became the 9 whetu or stars of matariki.  tawhirimatea is the god of wind and storms and has always been connected with riri or anger / madness. Anger is an emotion we as human all know and feel ,  This collection speaks about our relationship with tawhiri and how anger can also sometimes blind us.
