This Maori Taniwha Plush Toy is quite unique. I don't think I've ever seen a taniwha toy before, let alone a taniwha.
Taniwha are Maori supernatural creatures that take many forms depending on where they live. They may look like a dragon, as in this case, or look like a reptile or a flying creature, or live as a monster from the sea. And some could change shape to look like a sea creature, or even a log. They usually lived in waterways, like rivers, lakes or the ocean. Some were terrifying, killing creatures, whilst others were kaitiaki, protectors. Opo, the iconic friendly dolphin from 1950's Opononi, was believed by many Maori to be a taniwha.
This taniwha could be your child's kaitiaki, providing a protective guardianship role. Ideal when kids have night terrors or difficulty sleeping.
The brightly coloured taniwha plush toy measures approximately 23cm x 33cm (9" x 13"). The taniwha stands on its own, and is lovely and cuddly.
Shipped worldwide from New Zealand.
