Totara Taiaha with Ngutu Kaka Carving and Red and Blue Feathers
This swamp totara Taiaha was carved in Northland, New Zealand by a carver of Ngapuhi and Ngati Horahia descent.
He carved a Ngutu Kaka design into the tongue (arepo), representing the wairua (spirit) of the bearer/ owner.
The taiaha measures approximately 155cm (61") long, and is adorned with red and blue feathers.
