Maori 4-Pin Koru Heru Comb

This beautiful Koru Heru (comb) is made from Rimu, has four prongs and is beautifully inlaid with Paua. This stunning comb would make a lovely gift.

The Heru comb was traditionally worn by Maori to fasten their long hair into a top knot. Heru indicated the rank of the wearer and were often carved from a single piece of wood, whale bone or were made of many individual wooden prongs intricately bound together.

The Maori Koru design carries a spiritual meaning, one of peace, tranquility, positive change, and new beginnings. The Maori Koru Heru is double sided so when worn the ornate design can be viewed from both sides.

It is approx 140mm (approx 5.5") long.
