Moroccan Safi - Hand Thrown Pottery Wall Plate. Hand Painted. Signed B.M Safi, it also has a small stamp but it cant be identified. It is starting to lose some of its paint on the outer edge and has some crazing but is otherwise good for the age. Measurements 229mm Dia x 55mm H

Moroccan red clay is quarried from the Safi region useing traditional wood firing kilns. The designs used on Moroccan pottery are influenced by Berber and Islamic art, which was previously influenced by Phoenician, Roman and Byzantine designs. Each piece is painted by hand using modern multicolored designs as well as traditional patterns.
