Ko Te Kimi-Ira-Tangata - Paper Print

Many atua went on the quest to create those who shall inherit custodianship of the natural world. They wanted to create humans. The atua tried and failed. On and on they searched for the ira-tangata but each attempt brought about other beings. Birds, lizards, fish and a whole range of animals that would inhabit the world. Yet still, no human beings came about until, as a collective and with the critical advice and help of their tuakana Uru, they created Hine-ahu-one. Thus their search for Te Ira-Tangata, the human custodian they needed, came to be. Hineatauira was born.
