Produced in 1974, 10 years after Albrecht’s first solo show, Skydive is part of a suite of works that layer the landscape – looking both up into heavens, and down into earth’s mysterious subterranean strata. She presents a world filled with luminous colour and joyous wonder, prompting us to look anew at our home, the Earth. Writer Martin Edmond once described Albrecht’s paintings as ‘rainbow filters through which the light of the landscape enters the room’.
