The Ndumberi factory serves the members of the Ndumberi Farmers Cooperative society. The cooperative’s initial membership totaled 430 members. It was officially registered on 30th September 1962 with the help of Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, the first prime minister of the Republic of Kenya. Today the thriving cooperative totals over 2600 members. In line with sustainable and responsible farming principles, the factory has gone through the process of certification under Utz and FairTrade. The long term goal is to increase coffee production through farmer training, ready access to inputs, Good Agricultural Practice seminars, and providing the most current printed materials on sustainable farming.
