Phlox drummondii | Cherry Caramel
Phlox is an old-fashioned quintessential garden classic that has been around since Victorian times.
Cherry Caramel is a delicious annual Phlox with parchment caramel flowers streaked with plum. The star-shaped flowers borne in sprays that are lined with varying intensities of streaking and veining. The flowers are a kaleidoscope of colours as they age. We grow this for picking as it lasts particularly well in the vase at around 7-10 days, just be sure to remove the leaves from the lower stems.
Phlox make lovely edging plants in an annual border or massed in garden beds, but are also just as happy in containers and very easy to grow. They will flower throughout the summer months. Drainage is essential to avoid crown rot. Deadhead for continued flowering and cut when the flowers are fully open. Plants if they like their location may gently self-sow in the garden and being this pretty we think that is a great thing!
Phlox like well-drained soil in a nice sunny spot.
