Phosphates are a major source of food for algae and increase chlorine consumption in a swimming pool. Phosphates are found in many different products but a common source of contamination for swimming pools is from lawn fertilisers and various products for gardens and/or farms.

BioGuard will remove phosphates from pool water helping to prevent algae growth and reduce chlorine consumption. Phosphates can also be problematic for probes or sensors on some chlorinators, causing them to misread the ORP. should be used in conjuction with a clarifying agent like Polysheen Plus.

For ongoing maintenance of phosphates levels we recommend using Pool Complete as a regular weekly dose to not only remove phosphates but to also clear the water crystal clear and help remove any build up of a scum line.
