PEKEPEKE-KIORE DOWELS AND GRAIN SPAWN

A wild sourced strain of this wonderful native New Zealand fungus - Pekepeke kiore - also known as Coral Tooth or 'NZ Lions Mane'. A cousin of the famous 'Lions Mane' mushroom, this mushroom (Hericium novae-zealandiae) has great flavours and purported medicinal benefits. A delicate coral like structure (hence the name) fruits year round when weather is humid.

Its flavour is like no other mushroom. Some people describe it as being similar to crab meat, and there is no doubt that it has a very unique yet delicate savoury / umami flavour.

DOWELS

Fully colonised, high quality dowel plugs.These dowels are perfect for inoculating fresh cut logs of deciduous trees. This species is known to take a long time to produce mushrooms on logs - two or three years - and it prefers larger diameter logs.
