This is a wonderful carving representing the revered Māori adze. Every piece is unique, the piece in the photos is the piece that you will buy.

The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. In pre-iron age times it was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. In early Aotearoa/New Zealand, the adze was used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.

The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
