TOI O NGĀ RANGI

- Summit of the heavens

is the work of Andrew Doughty - he has crafted a beautiful Matau from a pale green piece of New Zealand jade.

Fishing was a sacred activity for early māori - the ability to feed family gave mana, so the fish hook became a symbol of the ability to provide and sustain. This particular piece has been carved with this history driving the artist's hands.

If you like handcrafted, traditional art to wear, and if you appreciate the finest craftsmanship - check this piece out, it's a beauty!

The Hook: The wearer of a Hei-Matau is seen as a provider and protector who is strong willed and determined to succeed in life - what a lovely sentiment to gift to someone important to you.

Also included, a note from the carver to the holder of this carving, regarding and its' symbolism. This provides a wonderful insight into the thinking behind the piece.

This pendant will be delivered to you on a plaited, adjustable cord.

We will also include our 'Kia Ora' card, which explains the meaning behind the Hook design.

ONE ONLY - Shipping is included in the price.
