This is a wonderful carving - an organic, weighty and beautiful boars tusk.

This piece was carved for us by Andrew Doughty - he has named it which means to flow.

made from a wild boars tusk that has been fused together with some buffalo horn. There is a small insert of Mother of Pearl in the centre of a brass surround.

The artists words below.

Although there are many meanings imbued within this design, the main theme of it speaks of strong protection and strength. The tusks and horns are used by the animals for their protection and to protect their young and others within the herd. It also represents leadership.

One facet on the tusk is a kowhaiwhai design containing a flow of Koru. Together they represent a flow of strength into our being. At another level it symbolises the flow of ocean currents along with the ebbs and flows of the tides. Therefore depicts the navigation of life with all its twists and turns. The Mother of Pearl inlay at the top symbolises spiritual treasures to be found if they are diligently sought.
