The artists words below.

contains a Koruru figure at the tip of the boars tusk. This is capped with Buffalo Horn. The horn symbolises great strength and leadership.

The large mouth and tongue represent the passing down of knowledge and wisdom from the elders who have come before us. The oral stories as well as the written word. The stories of the past that help shape the future.

The pattern on the back depicts the ocean of life. It's currents, ebbs and flows. Collectively therefore, this taonga depicts the safe navigation of a life full of wisdom and learning.
