Barry Clarke

Barry Clarke is a self- taught jewellery maker and has also always painted. English born, he studied art informally through reading and spending hours at the British and Victoria and Albert Museums. Earlier years were spent in the British Merchant Navy and it was here his fascination with boats began. Clarke creates his naive vessels from tin, finishing them with bold paint. Many years ago he immigrated to New Zealand and has lived in various locations before settling in Christchurch.
