Shona McFarlane. OBE 1929 – 2001
Best known as a journalist and broadcaster, particularly for her role on the Selwyn Toogood show Beauty and the Beast, McFarlane was also a skilled artist.
She created thousands of paintings, from formal portraits and intricate architectural drawings, to many still-lives, which became her trademark in later years.
Her work is held by several galleries, including the Museum of New Zealand, Te Papa.
