Cucurbita maxima

An old Australian heirloom variety of blue-skinned pumpkin, s grow large and have a hard skin. This makes them excellent for storing right through until spring.
Fabulous for roasting, and in curries and soups. Deep golden flesh. Growing Conditions

Sow seed into trays from late September to November. Once their first true leaves have emerged, transplant into a bigger pot. Pumpkins are frost tender so keep them inside on a warm, sunny windowsill, in a greenhouse or in a cold frame.

Traditionally pumpkins are planted at Labour Weekend (End of October) however the timing for you will depend on your local climate and whether you have a greenhouse. They are frost tender so best planted after all risk of frost has passed.
