Rewa works at a job he doesn't enjoy he often imagines being a bird and flying away his worried mother sends him a tohunga a wise man the tohunga grants rewa his wish but warns rewa not be a bird for too long or he might not be able turn back into a person rewa becomes a piwakawaka fantail but once he as a person he begs the tohunga change him into a bird again the tohunga grants rewa his wish many times over until the day rewa stays as a bird for a bit too long.
