    Japanese Millet
(Echinochloa esculenta). This is a great crop for cows who will really go crazy when they see it. Likes the warmer climate and plant after Nov 15 (we always say). 1.5metres in height and matures in 45-60 days. Give it a light graze early and feed it Urea. Can be fed out or back fenced. High protein and produces 5-8 tons of hay per hectare. Call us for price on 50kg plus.

    Chickory
(Cichorium intybus L). Another of the herby ones. Looks a bit like a dock leaf but it's really palatable to stock so throw a couple kg in the mix for cattle, lambs or deer. Timothy
(Phleum pratense L). a high quality perennial that's very palatable to stock even when seed heads appear (which is a little unusual). Because it's palatable and a poor competitor - it can easily get grazed out. Really does like the cooler regions and heavier soils, but will have a go in most spots. A low sugar cow favourite. Looks like a weed but we call it a herb.

    Cocksfoot
(Dactylis glomerata L). will show strong growth through the summer when it should be grazed regularly to avoid it becoming unpalatable to stock. It has low sugar and no endophyte, so it's a good component in horse mixes.

    Prairie Grass
(Bromus willdenowii). It’s a perennial but won't be around as long as most others. Fairly much gone by year 4. Won't go well in the wet but in the dryer locations it will stand drought quite well. It’s a good low sugar option in the mix and is very palatable. Goes well in winter and spring.

    Nui
(Lollium perenne). Still a good solid performer but super seeded by newer varieties in most pasture mixes.
