Hand Crafted Wooden Tailor's Clapper

Check out our blog post for everything you need to know about How to Use a Tailor's Clapper.

After spending much time designing and trialling prototypes, we believe we've designed a Tailor's Clapper that is just 'so'. A clapper that will effectively absorb steam to help get wonderfully flat seams; a clapper that is a pleasure to use by fitting a range of hand sizes and one that can be held either one handed or two.

A Tailor's Clapper will elevate your sewing as it is used to help flatten seams on bulkier sewing projects such as jeans or coats, or where you've got many layers of fabric to press (such as patchwork). It can also be used on lighter weight or delicate fabrics eliminating the risk of singeing your fabric with your iron.

Featuring a tapered shape to cater for varying hand sizes, rounded edges for comfort, and grooves running the length of each side to easily grip the clapper.

Designed by the Miss Maude team and expertly hand crafted locally using sustainably grown FSC European Beech.

Limited Edition.

Approximately 25cm x 7cm x 4cm

How to use: Hand press seam. Hold steam iron above fabric (not touching the fabric) and steam the seam. Remove iron and immediately hold the clapper on the seam. Press down firmly. Remove clapper once steam has been absorbed and fabric has cooled - this is normally five seconds or so. Always test on a scrap first to ensure the heat/steam is suitable for your fabric.
