Ways to use it
Mix 4 grams (approx. 1 heaped teaspoon) into 100 mL of full cream milk for the added benefits of tryptophan. For a dairy free option add to plant-based milk and enjoy hot or cold. Alternatively, add to baking, smoothies, yoghurt, porridge or ice cream.

Are the flavours natural?
Yes! We use premium plant based flavours that are created using only natural processing methods such as heating, fermenting and pressing. There is nothing artificial in our Captain Calm.
What does it taste like?
Captain Calm tastes like a blissful bubblegum flavoured drink that will make your kids fall in love with this purple superfood blend. We have combined premium dried fruit powders with natural plant based flavours to deliver a unique and fun calming drink.
What is thaumatin? For parents' peace of mind, rest assured that we only use natural sweeteners across all of our products. Our Captain Calm contains thaumatin, which is sourced from the katemfe fruit, Thaumatococcus daniellii, found in the West African rainforests. Thaumatin is a very sweet protein that is extremely powerful so we only need to use tiny tiny amounts of it. Just to put into perspective, stevia is 200 times sweeter than sucrose, while thaumatin is about 2000 times sweeter than sucrose! Mother nature is indeed super powerful.
What makes Captain Calm purple?
Captain Calm contains refractance window dried New Zealand purple carrot. This means that our purple carrot retains the highest amount of anthocyanins (the purple pigments) possible in a dried product and makes our drink a dazzling purple colour. However, as carrots are a natural product, of course, as with any other fruit or vegetable, there are seasonal variances which may result with more or less purple at times. The exact colour of Captain Calm will also vary slightly depending on the type of milk used. ie. greyish almond milk might make your kids drink darker than when made with white full cream milk. However, rest assured that our Captain Calm will taste beautiful no matter how purple the purple is.
Are the calming botanicals, herbal extracts or whole herbs?
Here at Nutra Organics, it is of the utmost importance to us that all members of the family can enjoy the majority of our products and that where possible, we use the most “whole" form of the ingredient available. Therefore we do not utilise herbal extracts in Captain Calm, simply the whole herb. This means that our product is more wholesome, and suitable for all members of the family to consume.
Why have you added calming botanicals to your product?
The interplay of plants and human health has been documented for thousands of years. Herbs have been integral to both traditional and non-traditional forms of medicine dating back at least 5000 years. The growing popularity of herbal medicines may be explained by the tendency of herbs to work slowly, and synergistically. Captain Calm contains three botanicals known to support the nervous system and to help to calm the mind.
