About the artist:

‘Chimp’ is a New Zealand born street artist, whose style focuses largely on experimentation with different styles and colours within public and private commissions. The subjects for his art range from birds to portraits, abstract objects and personal motifs. Chimp often combines several of these styles to create contemporary pieces of art that are unique to his ‘post- graffiti’ style.
Chimp began drawing from a young age, whilst also creating, designing and building various items and has continued this throughout his career. A love for not only skateboarding (downhill) and hip hop, accompanied by support from family and friends have all contributed to the development of Chimp’s art and professional practice.
From the age of 16, these elements were all paramount in creating and fuelling the opportunity and desire to begin his ever-developing aerosol campaign. Chimp has completed art projects for a range of clientele such as parliament and Justice departments, although aspires and is continuously working to expand his career internationally after graduating from his Honours Degree in Industrial Design in May 2019. More recently completing a three month artist residency with Street Artist in Residence in California, USA. Painting a large mural for Street Prints Papaioea 2020 and traveling to Melbourne, Australia for Can’t Do Tomorrow - urban art festival.
