Rainbow Lou and May B Lou
The inspiration for these dolls came from the iconic Marylou doll, sold in New Zealand since 1941. Marylou was made by H (Hec) E Ramsey Limited of Auckland, who also created the Kiwi icon BuzzyBee™.
Rainbow is my modern tribute to represent diversity and inclusion in New Zealand today and
May B is my tribute to the original doll, which came with red or blue bodies. Examples have also been found with pale pink or pale mint coloured bodies. The modern version has a pink body.
I knitted these dolls in acrylic 8ply yarn which gives approx. 2.8m per 1g, the quantities have been rounded up. Please check your labels for meterage per ball as this will vary from yarn to yarn.
Due to the small quantities of (most) of these colours, this is ideal to use up those odds and ends.
