Ricoh XR7

with Miranda 35-70mm f/3.5-4.8 MC Macro lens!

The XR7 is one of the more full-featured SLRs offered by Ricoh, designed to accept K-mount lenses. It was introduced in 1982. This camera is based around an electronically-timed shutter, which needs two 1.5 volt LR44/SR44 type batteries to operate; it provides both aperture-priority autoexposure and a wide range of manual shutter speeds (1/1000 sec. to 16 seconds) plus flash sync up to 1/125th.

Pressing a button on the front of the camera will preview the automatically selected shutter speed at the right edge of the viewfinder; optional exposure compensation and an AE lock are provided. For manual meter readings, settings are adjusted until the over/under arrows in the viewfinder LCD display disappear. An electronic self-timer with a delay of 10 seconds is selected via a button alongside the rewind crank but can be cancelled with a second press. While counting down, a red LED facing the subjects flashes. In order to shield the metering cells within the viewfinder from stray light in this case, Ricoh provided an eyepiece cover that can be threaded onto the cameras's neck-strap. The XR7 is able to lock the film advance while recocking the shutter by pressing the ME control on the rear of the camera, thus permitting multiple exposures on a single film frame. This model also offers a depth-of-field preview lever.
