Much like a fabric pot, they promote stronger, healthier root systems by "air-pruning" - when the roots are effectively burnt off when they are exposed to the low-humidity air at the edge of the pot, encouraging plentiful new root growth and preventing plant stress and associated pest and disease issues that come with root bounds plants.
