About the Rewarewa tree

New Zealand Honeysuckle (Knightia Excelsa) is a member of the Protea family and grows throughout the North Island of New Zealand and at the tip of the South Island in the Marlborough Sounds.

These unusual cylinder-shaped flowers only blossom for a short period to produce nectar with a genuinely native flavour. The unique blossoms stay curled on the tree until late summer when they fall to cover the earth in a thick red carpet.

Honey bees and the many nectar-feeding birds of New Zealand pollinate the flowers. Like Manuka honey , Rewarewa is abundant in hydrogen peroxide and antioxidants to support your health and well-being.
