Lagavulin ‘Distillers Edition’ 2022
Every autumn, Lagavulin releases a limited post-aging bottle of single malt whisky as a highlight of the year. The single malt whisky is matured in refill casks made from American and European oak.
A second aging process followed in Pedro Ximenez and charred American Oak barrels with new AO ends that were heavily charred. The result is a complex Lagavulin with raisin sweetness, smokiness, and peaty notes.
Lagavulin Distillers Edition 2022 was bottled at 43.0% volume.
Nose: Intense peat, dark oak, and vanilla. In addition, there is a delicate raisin sweetness and smokiness. Aromas of roasted malt, iodine, and tobacco in the background.
Taste: Full-bodied, smoky, and sweet. A clear malt first, followed by peaty smoke and a touch of saltiness. There are also notes of coffee, vanilla, and light fruit.
Finish: Long lasting. Peat and fruit complement the spiciness of the oak.
