Bowron Sheepskins have been in existence for more than a hundred and forty years. Two brothers, George and William Bowron, started the company when they left their birthplace in Yorkshire, England, and travelled to New Zealand in 1879.

- As master tanners, the Bowron brothers were excited to bring their skills and knowledge to Christchurch and soon founded a tannery in their name.
- As the tannery thrived, they perfected the process of lambskin and sheepskin tanning and manufacturing, ensuring that even in the early days of its existence, the company was at the forefront of the industry.
- This trend continued, and in the 1990s, the company introduced a revolutionary procedure called the Whitan Process. It was a ground-breaking development and quickly became recognised as environmentally friendly and is adopted by companies worldwide. Products for the Whole Family
