Vintage Rice Pot - Green Glaze - Example 'C'

We love these ‘Rice Pots’ for the stunning variety of finishes that occur within each piece and the various adornments on some examples. This handmade pot is finished in an green glaze (gloss) with distinctive washes of earthy/rusty browns.

The vessel is in excellent structural condition (no cracks), the glaze has the many varied imperfections, patterns and quirks that make these pieces so appealing (the photos show two sides of each individual pot).

Age unknown - these jars were used by more prosperous households to store rice. The dealer we purchased this from indicated dates of circa 1860 -1920’s, though we cannot confirm the veracity of this claim - we just buy what we love!
