"Ode to Walters" art print by Nicholas Lum

"Ode to Walters" by Nicholas Lum pays homage to one of the great abstract modernist artists, Gordon Walters.

The piece is a modern interpretation of Walters's famous interlocking koru, using current-day design tools to achieve a dimensional morph and a blended transition.

With a background in mathematics, Nicholas appreciated Walter's mathematical precision, which he met with considered visual balance. Nicholas used his own formulated ratios to balance the positive and negative space between stem and frond.

Nicholas Lum is a second-generation New Zealand-born Chinese who is a practising graphics designer based in Auckland.
