"Starry Night, Mt Eden" was fuelled by a desire to paint Vincent’s famous night sky, to understand his techniques, and relate it to an equally psychedelic icon, Mt Eden.

Justin Summerton is an established mid-career artist and surfer who lives with his family in Dunedin. He captures the beauty and isolation of the landscape and has a distinct brushstroke technique which often results in a thick, layered effect.
