"Mushrooms and Monarchs were inspired by a friend's photo of three toadstools. I added the monarch butterflies because I was (and still am) craving spring. I can’t wait to see them in the garden again! Last spring, we found a chrysalis on the ground and placed it in our kitchen fern. Against the odds, that chrysalis became the beautiful butterfly that provided the reference photos for these monarchs, taken during a mad dash to get it somewhere safe, out of the cats' reach."
