Float Cold Sink Hot Object

Study the effect of temperature on the density of a liquid as a carefully counterweighted 75mm dia. copper ball will just float in cold water but sinks in hot water due to the subtle difference in water density. Is fitted with a stopper to enable ballast weight to be altered. Demonstrates the principle of Galileo’s Thermometer.
