HIGH VOLTAGE SOURCE: Rhumkorff’s Coil (Spark Coil) 12V DC

This High Voltage Source: Rhumkorff's Coil (Spark Coil) apparatus demonstrates electrical and magnetic principles. The vibrating points are tungsten and a high quality capacitor is used to reduce arcing. A complete unit with removable and adjustable needle points and with insulated handles runs from about 6 to 9V DC producing a spark length of about 25-30mm long which is normal. To protect the primary winding a fuse is fitted and the secondary winding containing thousands of turns can be slid from the primary to reduce the coupling. Supervision is required.
