- The difference between Selenite, Satin Spar and Desert Rose: Selenite, Satin Spar and Desert Rose are all the same mineral, Gypsum, in different forms. Satin Spar is a more compact and fibrous variety which is semi-transparent. Desert Rose forms in a bladed, 'sand' covered rose. True Selenite is clear and easily scratched.
- Other types of Selenite: Blue Selenite, Green Selenite, Orange or Orange-Brown Selenite, or Peach Selenite. The Orange tinge comes from Hematite traces within the mineral. Hematite traces give Selenite a more grounding effect.
